Animated characters brimming with mystery and adventure!

The extended intro gives viewers subtle hints to catch each character’s personality, featuring title cards inspired by classic Mexican cinema posters from the 1950s. The opening credits and theme song set the tone with a sense of mystery and adventure—just the spirit Ánima Estudios envisioned for the show.

OPENING INTRO

CONCEPTS

The first challenge for us was to re-design the main cast of characters from the existing feature films and adapt them for mainstream audiences and television. Character design draws its inspiration from the famous Hanna Barbera character designer: Ed Benedict, who used curves against straight lines to stylize shapes.

CHARACTER DESIGN

PROPS

Like in any travel show, Legend Quest features a great amount of cultures, so for each episode the team of artists had to research how objects looked according to the places and time periods Leo and his friends visited.

SEQUENCES

Most of the episodes required some explaining regarding the backstory of a monster. These were very exciting to do since we got to make each one of them in a different visual style, like japanese watercolour style paintings, american 18th century engravings and ancient greek vase mosaics.
