When Capitol introduced us to this song by “We The Kingdom” and we heard the lyrics, we knew that an amazing project landed in our hands!
As true fans of the Christmas season, we recognized immediately that this was the perfect excuse to evoke the nostalgia of American culture. Inspired by the classic Rankin/Bass Christmas specials, we ventured into our first-ever stop-motion project! But we didn’t stop there; we knew there was no better way to tell this magical story than by combining the best of both worlds: stop-motion and traditional animation. Watch how they join forces in “Christmas in Hawaii”!
CHARACTER DESIGN
Our main objective was to achieve unity among all our characters, especially when traditional animation met stop-motion. We focused on wardrobe design for our special Santa character and envisioned how a Hawaiian Christmas would look like, making spirits bright but in a tropical and humorous way, different from the traditional approach to Christmas we see everywhere. As these two animation styles merged, it was essential for the characters to maintain the right look and appeal.

Christmas inspires a sense of possibility, and with the wonderful story that “We The Kingdom” created for this song, we aimed to produce a heartwarming music video that truly captures that spirit with a fun twist.
