CHARACTER DESIGN

The overall art direction style of the show is a mixture of two main concepts: Renaissance –because the original Don Quijote de la Mancha was written during that time period– and Retro-futurism… because it takes place in space. The cartooning style of the show also draws inspiration from old school anime (Osamu Tezuka, Zukkoke Knight, The Flying House) mixed with classic western cartoons of the 60’s, like the Jetsons.

We love title cards because they are fun way to give hints about the story of the episode you are about to watch. That is why we chose a group of talented illustrators and art directors to design each one of the 13 title cards of season 1: Leo Espinosa, Lorena Álvarez, Miki Kobayashi, María Picasso, Nick Cross amongst others.
